New pension scheme up for Tynwald debate

Infrastructure has a statutory responsibility with respect to local authority employees and it’s recently reviewed the comments received following a two-month consultation period on the new proposals.

The department is now looking to seek approval of the scheme at next Tuesday’s sitting.

The new-look plan includes provisions designed to ensure that the scheme continues to be viable and that it remains affordable and sustainable for the future. 

Richard Ronan MHK, who has responsibility for local authorities, said the comments received during the consultation have been mainly supportive of the new proposals and that there’s been recognition that they represent a move towards greater sustainability in the future.
