No background checks on Living Hope school visitors

The Department of Education and Children says representatives from the Living Hope Church don't need background checks to visit Island schools.

A freedom of information request asked whether those going into schools had undergone Criminal Records Bureau or Disclosure and Barring Service checks.

It's after a previous request revealed church representatives visited six island schools up to five times a year.

In its latest response, the department says because the visits are supervised, no background checks are needed.
