There will be no public holiday for the Island's election day.
Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas dismissed the suggestion in the House of Keys yesterday.
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper asked whether he'd considered giving Manx voters the day off work whilst elections took place.
However, the Minister said he believes the figure would be too high, it may cost up to £1 million for the day and the Island already has 10 public holidays.
