No local democracy reporter for Island

None of the Isle of Man's news services will get a BBC-funded local democracy reporter in the first phase of a new scheme.

The corporation is spending £8 million of license fee money employing journalists who'll cover local public bodies.

But the BBC has now named those who'll get a share of the cash - and nowhere on the Island has made the list.

In total, it aims to fund 150 reporters - the first phase has seen 15 organisations successfully bidding.
