No votes for UK's 16 year olds

The UK won't be following in the Island's footsteps by giving 16 year olds the right to vote.

On Friday, backbench Labour MP Jim McMahon tried to steer a new law through its second reading in the House of Commons.

However, after Conservative MPs spoke up, the Votes at 16 Bill ran out of time to be passed.

The Isle of Man lowered its voting age from 18 to 16 in 2006.
