    Nurseries invited to state interest in DEC units

    More details have emerged about how private nurseries express their interest in operating the government pre-schools.

    The Department of Education and Children (DEC) has 11 pre-school units around the Island which will be taken over privately. 

    It follows a decision to put a stop to free education provision for children aged three and four from September. 

    Providers who take over the existing DEC units must be registered with the Department of Social Care and will be expected to plan in line with the Early Years Foundation. 

    Government has said a decision on who will be allocated the premises will be made in May.
