There will be a pay freeze for staff working in the government’s Health and Social Care departments.
Minister for Social Care Chris Robertshaw made the announcement on Friday.
It will take effect from April and affects around 1,400 staff in total, including nursing staff and care workers.
There will be an unconsolidated non-pensionable, one-off payment of between £250 and £350 for those earning under £43,500.
Speaking at a press conference, chief executive of the DSC Chris Corlett outlined the reasons behind the changes (see audio).
