Pensions Committee appoints independent member

The council is charged with administering the local government pension scheme on behalf of all 17 local authorities.

Mr Thomas joins the recently appointed Standards Committee member Derek Booth, and comes after the council adopted a new constitution in May.

This required that two independent members be appointed, one to the Standards Committee, the other to the Pensions Committee.

Mr Thomas has worked in the Island’s finance sector for 30 years and is vice-chairman of Castletown Commissioners.
