Pint of milk to cost 60p from July

A pint of milk will cost you more from the start next month as the price reaches 60p for the first time.

The Creamery and DEFA said the 3p rise in cost was recently decided by the Milk Price Order group based on market trends and competitor activity.

The Creamery’s managing director Findlay Macleod said the decision had not been taken lightly but they hadn’t been able to keep pace with the increasing cost in processing, packaging and distribution.

DEFA Minister Phil Gawne said he accepted the reasons behind the price increase and was supportive of the group’s decision.
