Plans for Northern civic Amenity Site will go before Tynwald this month

Approval sought for £1.5 million scheme

Plans for a new Civic Amenity Site in the North will go before Tynwald this month.

The aim of the new site is to provide the people of the North with an brand new facility that will allow them to reuse, recycle and dispose of household waste.

It will be located at Balladoole Farm, closer to the main population of the north with an improved design and traffic management system.

The new facility will consist of two levels, the upper floor will be exclusively for public use to reuse, recycle or dispose of household waste, the lower level will be for operations associated with the movement of bulk skips.

The site was selected as it could act as a dual site for the new Northern Sewage Treatment Works.

The Department of infrastructure will now be requesting Tynwald approval for the construction and development costs of £1.5 million.
