Manx Utilities has announced it's teamed up with a worldwide networking company as it plans to upgrade the Island's electricity meters.
Trilliant, which has its headquarters in the US, says it will provide wireless meters which can give instant readings and better customer service.
The company says it'll help upgrade power meters for around 50,000 properties on the Island and its technology could help build a smart grid in the future.
In a statement, Trilliant says its Low Power Wide Area Network could also help Manx Utilities manage power outage notifications.
