Police analyst misused computer system, court hears

A police analyst committed a "gross breach of trust" after accessing information on a man he had a dispute with.

Peter Devereau, of Selbourne Drive, Douglas, appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

The 56-year-old admitted unauthorised access to computer material on April 24 last year on a police database system to find information on a man he had a personal issue with.

The searches are untraceable, but Devereau owned up to the breach to his line manager.

Defence advocate Jim Travers told the court his client was remorseful and hadn't passed on the information to anyone else.

The case was adjourned until April 11 for a social enquiry report and Devereau was bailed in the sum of £500.
