A teacher who has been jailed for rape and indecent assault has had his employment terminated by the Department of Education and Children.
58-year-old Davoud Taghinejad had been a lecturer at the Isle of Man College since September 2009.
Earlier this week he was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of one count of rape and 10 of indecent assault.
His victims were five teenage girls.
The department says his offences were not carried out at the college and there was no suggestion his conduct fell below the required standard whilst at work.
Prior to his appointment he was the subject of a police check – which was entirely satisfactory and gave no cause for concern.
