Prayers to be dropped from political sittings?

Could prayers be removed from the start of House of Keys and Tynwald sittings?

A report from a Tynwald committee is recommending it be discontinued, in order to reflect 'changes in modern society'.

Christian prayers have been said before each sitting since a House of Keys chaplain was first appointed in 1863.

Now, on Tuesday MHKs will be asked to debate a report which recommends they be replaced by either a 'smooinaghtyn' - the Manx word which translates as thought or consideration, or alternatively - a period of silence.
