The Department of Home Affairs says it can't confirm whether there have been any incidents involving drones at the prison - because it could risk security at the Jurby facility.
A Freedom of Information request asked about drone4s trying to fly into the prison, asking what they were carrying and what had happened to them.
But in its response, the department says answering the question risks giving criminals operational information they could use.
It refused the request on the grounds that outweighed the public interest in transparency and accountability.
