Public Health IOM issues Strep A warning following UK deaths

Public Health has issued a warning following the death of nine children in the UK.

They all have passed away with Strep A -  a rare bacteria that causes Scarlet fever.

So far, the health board says there have been a low number of 'sporadic cases' of Scarlet fever on Island - which isn't deemed as unusual.

However, it's asking parents to be aware of the symptoms - which include a sore throat, headache, fever, nausea and vomiting.

If a parent thinks their child might have scarlet fever, they're asked to contact their GP and stay at home.
