Public warned about cowboy builders

The Office of Fair Trading is aware of a number of builders who fall into this category currently plying their door to door trade around the Island.

Traditionally consumers have been persuaded to accept offers of work because they are cheaper than local builders and can start right away.

You’re warned that any work carried out is likely to be of a poor quality, with shoddy materials used; any guarantees provided are likely to be worthless.

The OFT say you should be instantly wary of any builders who cold call, and you should never be pressurized into employing them.
