A Ramsey Commissioner has called for Tynwald to look at reviewing and modernising the Island’s ‘archaic’ rates system.
Juan McGuinness says although the system works, it doesn’t have any ‘relevance’ in the modern day to residents across the Island.
A consultation was started in 2015 by the government and further consultations took place in 2019 alongside a government portal.
During the commissioners public meeting on Wednesday (15th) he said: "As far as I am aware it got to a pretty advanced stage in 2019, from under the previous administration.
"And whilst COVID apparently stopped all work on these matters, to my mind it seems no reason other than political will they’ve not moved forward."
The commissioners voted unanimously to write to the Cabinet Office.
