RNLI teams are urging those heading out on boats to be prepared after Island personnel responded to an incident during last week.
Ramsey crews joined several UK stations and a coastguard helicopter last Friday (December 27) at 5.15pm to help a yacht which got into difficulty because of poor visibility and not having functioning navigation equipment.
The 24-foot vessel was found shortly before 6pm eight miles south east of Whithorn in Scotland - the single crew member on board was unhurt and the boat safely towed to Kirkcudbright.
A spokesperson for the Ramsey team is urging people to be fully prepared before going on a journey, make sure the craft is sea worthy and that it has working navigation systems.
