    Rates meeting figures revealed

Around 115 people attended public meetings to hear about the Island's new rates system.

That's according to Policy and Reform Minister, Chris Thomas, in written response to a question in the House of Keys earlier this week.

Mr Thomas says the figures for the sessions held across the Island are an estimate, as no public attendance records were taken.

The new system - which sees a property's rates based on it's size rather than its rental value - was approved by Tynwald earlier this month and is due to come into effect from 2022.
