Reciprocal Agreement Will Still End in April

Meeting Proves Futile in Changing Decision

We’ve had confirmation now from the UK Department of Health Press Office that the Reciprocal Health Agreement will be ending as scheduled in April.

The last gasp meeting between DHSS Minister Eddie Teare, Chief Minister Tony Brown and UK Health Secretary Andy Burnham failed to establish a reversal in the UK’s decision.

In response to the meeting Burnham said he will review the situation and any possible negative consequences or unforeseen impacts.

The implications of the decision now mean of course that anyone visiting the UK must have travel insurance or they run the risk of shouldering vast medical bills if they fall ill.
