Reports of older people being blown over in the winds, say Police

Police are asking people to avoid non-essential travel, following reports of two older people being blown over in high winds.

Storm Barra continues to batter the Island - resulting in road closures, fallen trees and travel disruption.

Ronaldsway Met Office had warned gusts could reach up to 70mph - with both a yellow and amber weather warning in place until 3am tomorrow morning.

Now, officers are urging the public to only travel if necessary - and to ask OAPs in particular, to stay safe.
