A researcher says climate change is being used as an excuse to knock down historic buildings under the Island's planning system.
Dr Andrew Martin was giving evidence to the Tynwald select committee on built heritage.
In evidence, he claimed 94 per cent of planning decisions ignore government policies on protecting historic buildings.
And he says too often old structures are being needlessly knocked down because developers claim newer buildings are more energy-efficient:
