Rising numbers of benefits deductions after overpayments

350 people have had payments deducted from benefits this year, to pay back benefits overpayments.

The Treasury revealed the figures in response to a Freedom of Information request.

It says three years ago the figure was just 315, rising to 335 last year and hitting 350 this year.

The deductions are made to pay back benefits wrongly paid out to claimants.
