Roundel concerns prompts Highway code questions

MHK concerned about Roundels asks: 'When will the Manx Highway Code be published?'

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will put his question to Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall in the House of Keys this week.

It comes as changes to the Highway code are implemented in the UK, designed to improve road safety.

Drivers of large vehicles must now recognise they pose the greatest threat of harm to smaller vehicles, horse riders, cyclists and pedestrians, according to the updated rule book.

Nine sections of the code have been updated with 50 rules added or amended - including a rule requiring motorists to give way to people crossing or waiting to cross at a junction.

Jason Moorhouse said he submitted the question after asking about the roundels on Douglas Promenade, "when it became clear that the advice for road users about such a novel road markings should be mentioned in the Manx Highway Code".
