Schools now shut to most pupils

Schools are now shut to most pupils due to the 21-day lockdown.

They'll only be open to children classed as vulnerable or whose parents are key workers - with most students switching back to online learning.

Schools won't operate under a hub system as seen in previous lockdowns - they'll stay as they are for those who need to use them.

Parents and carers are being told to keep their children at home where possible.

Meanwhile, government is aiming to quickly reintroduce a free school meal voucher scheme and a statement about summer exams is expected this week.

Certain nurseries and childminder groups are now also only accommodating vulnerable and key worker youngsters, a list of which ones are doing so is available here.
