Manx Technology Group hopes to test new sensors to monitor social care patients.
The sensors will be placed around the house and track things like electricity and water usage to form a pattern of daily activity, and if anything unusual is detected a text will be sent to a family member to alert them in case there's a problem.
It's currently being tested in parts of the UK and there are no cameras involved, although the process may feel invasive to some.
CEO of MTG, Joe Hughes, says the concept was thought up a few years ago, but now technology is more accepted it's easier to understand.
