Site investigation marks start of Laxey Bridge work

Preliminary work is starting on the new Laxey Bridge this week.

The Department of Infrastructure is doing minor excavations to check the foundations and integrity of the remaining support.

Site investigations on the riverbed and banks will take two days to complete and will help officers finish the details of the new design. 

The old bridge collapsed after severe flooding at the end of last year.  

Engineering manager Aidan McCusker says construction work will then start on March 29th:
