Castletown says it's chosen a design to replace aging street lamps in its conservation area.
On Facebook, the commissioners say the latest street lighting technology might not be suitable for the area as it upgrades the system.
The board says it's now consulted with planners to find a suitable style for the streets, and plans to run a pilot scheme of the fixtures in Douglas Street in May.
It says outside the historic zone, it'll continue to use the standard lamps.
