Subtitled films will be introduced at a local cinema, to allow those hard of hearing to enjoy films.
The Broadway Cinema, based at the Villa Marina in Douglas will welcome its first subtitled screening tomorrow - showcasing "Downtown Abbey".
According to government figures on the Isle of Man, approximately 1 in 6 of the population has some level of hearing loss, which can cause social isolation.
It states people can become withdrawn leading to them not enjoying entertainment events, shows and films with family and friends.
Marlene Maska MLC, Member for Education, Sport and Culture said: ‘Having hearing loss shouldn't stop you from going to the cinema. Introducing subtitles on selected film screenings at the VillaGaiety is one step towards achieving better inclusion.’
