Introducing a new sugar tax on the Isle of Man could generate £600,000 for the government.
That's according to Rushen MHK Juan Watterson - this week he successfully lobbied Tynwald to look at bringing in the levy on soft drinks.
It follows similar plans in the UK - if proposals for the Island, which will be unveiled next year, are approved Treasury plans to introduce it in April 2018.

Other Tynwald Members - including MHK David Ashford and MLC Juan Turner - raised concerns that the tax would be 'inefficient' and said it shouldn't be done just to increase revenue:
