Survey asks 2,000 households to help create first radon map

The UK's radon map (areas with high radon levels in red).

A project inviting residents to take part in a valuable survey is being issued to 2,000 households at random.

Next week, the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture will send out invitations for a survey to help create the first Island radon map.

It's to help identify which houses could have more exposure to naturally occurring radioactive gas and to give advice to those exposed to high radon levels.

If people decide to take part, they will place two small detectors in their home for three months.
