Teaching unions beginning industrial action

Teaching unions are set to begin industrial action today in their ongoing dispute with the Department of Education, Sport & Culture.

Members of the NAHT and ASCL are taking action short of a strike from today with the NASUWT expected to follow soon.

It follows several months of disagreements between the unions and the DESC over pay and conditions.

Meanwhile, Education Minister, Graham Cregeen MHK, has moved to reassure residents the action won't be affecting children's education.

He adds his 'door remains open' at anytime to continue negotiations and reach an agreement.
