    Tree disease spreading rapidly

    Half of the island's population of larch trees are to be felled because of an escalating disease.

    Phytophthora ramorum has been spreading rapidly among trees here for the past three years.

    It's thought 50 per cent of larch tress on the island are now infected.

    Larch trees make up around 20 per cent of the government's timber supply.

    John Walmsley from the Forestry Division explained the extent of the problem:
