Douglas Coastguards were called last night to rescue two people swimming out to the Tower of Refuge.
Crews say the people were in danger of being ‘swept out into the bay by the strong currents.’
A rescue swimmer got into the water and was able to bring them back to shore, after holding the Ben-my-Chree on her approach to the harbour.
The Coastguard says ‘luckily this incident had a successful outcome but it could have been a tragedy,’ and advises parents to make children aware of the dangers.
