Tynwald votes in favour of MHK's motion for Sefton debate

A debate has been raging this afternoon in Tynwald with regards to the legal opinion surrounding the Sefton loans.

It was revealed earlier today that aspects of the controversial bailout deal were unlawful.

Michael MHK Alf Cannan put forward a motion to debate the issue as a matter of public emergency, it received an overwhelming 25 votes of support in total.

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin earlier offered his resignation over the matter - it was not accepted by the Chief Minister.
