    Union asks for more time to consider bus proposals

    The bus drivers’ union has been given extra time to consider government’s latest offer over pay and terms and conditions.

    It's part of an effort to end the long running dispute between the workers and the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure.

    The DCCL submitted the proposals in May but Unite requested the deadline be extended until the end of this month.

    The department accepted this request as it says it remains confident a resolution can soon be found.

    Negotiations started 15 months ago and sparked regular strike action by bus drivers.

    Minister Graham Cregeen believes this is because of a fundamental misunderstanding from the union’s UK head office:
