Used needles aren't recyclable plastic, says council

Douglas council is asking people to dispose of waste responsibly after finding used needles in plastic recycling bins.

The local authority took to Facebook to issue the plea today after its recycling team discovered the used hypodermics.

The council says anyone using needles must dispose of them in appropriate containers, which are available from GPs, the hospital and local retailers.

And it adds needles can pose significant health and safety hazards to its staff.
