    Visitors spend £98 million on trips to Island

    Tourists spent almost £98 million visiting the Isle of Man last year, according to the latest passenger survey which has been released by Treasury.

    The survey shows that on average visitors spent £326 per trip leading to an increase of 8.7 per cent in total expenditure. 

    Of the total visitors welcomed to the Island most travelled by plane with the number of passengers travelling by sea dropping by more than 3,000. 

    More than one third of visitors were from the North West of England and only 6.9 per cent of tourists came from outside the British Isles. 

    The survey also showed that visitors did not spend as long here, with the average length of a trip dropping to just over five nights.
