Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall says an 'oversight' led to his department breaching government guidelines on consultation over waste.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse asked a question for written response about why a waste strategy consultation was only four weeks long.
In his reply, Mr Crookall said an oversight meant the consultation period didn't conform to government principles.
He says the deadline has been extended to October 21 and local authorities have been told of the extra time.
The consultation can be found here.
