Douglas Council has branded a government consultation on waste management ‘flawed’.
The Department of Infrastructure has gone out to consultation on municipal waste management in an effort to look at alternative ways of delivering the service.
However the council says the document and process is not transparent and there is not enough evidence based information.
It’s accused the department of not consulting fully with stakeholders ahead of submitting three possible options to the Council of Ministers.
Douglas Council says it agrees there needs to be fundamental changes and is fully committed to reform - however the department needs to give greater powers to local authorities.
