The plasterer from Douglas performed in the live shows - this week themed around the Wham star who died last year.
Sam tackled I'm Your Man, and made it through the public voting to stay in the competition.
The judges, however, were quick to criticise - Sharon Osbourne saying Sam's performance was "pitchy", and Nicole Scherzinger calling it "a bit rushed".
