Weather continues to affect ferry sailings

The Steam Packet Company says two of today's ferry crossings have been called off because of bad weather.

Yesterday, all of the Ben my Chree's sailings were scrapped in the face of gale force winds.

Today's 8.45am Douglas to Heysham trip and the return voyage at 2.15pm have both been cancelled.

Meanwhile, some roads remain closed this morning because of slates blown from rooves by the gales.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for coastal overtopping today, as well as one for frost and ice.

Forecasters say winds will drive waves over exposed coasts - with Douglas, Laxey and Ramsey most likely to be affected.
