Work begins to tackle pensions and benefits system

Work gets underway today to tackle the Island's "out of date" pensions and benefits system.

Treasury has organised four public meetings this week to give people the chance to voice their thoughts on how to reform the social security system.

The first event will take place at the Manx Museum in Douglas at 7.30pm - meetings will then follow in Ramsey, Port Erin and Peel.

It follows last year's damning report from consultants Ci65 which said a "bold transformation" is needed to ensure our system meets the needs of the people.
