The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service have issued a timely reminder to homeowners with regards to the dangers posed by Tumble Dryers.
Around this time of year the crews attend a number of house fires caused by the household appliance.
When a machine catches fire it can have devastating effects, however by conducting regular checks you can prevent this happening.
Tumble dryer fires occur commonly when the lint filters are left uncleaned, when the dryer door is opened during the cool down period and when clothes are contaminated with oils, solvents or flammable liquids.
The message from Station Officer Carl Kinvig is that they only advise use of washing machines and tumble dryers when they can be supervised, overnight usage is advised against.
